Mellos is played by David Horovitch, an actor you may recognize from the films Young Victoria, Cassandra’s Dream, and the live-action 102 Dalmatians. A prequel to Game of Thrones (2011–2019), it is the second television series in the A Song of Ice and Fire franchise. Featuring an ensemble cast, the show portrays the events leading up to the beginning of the decline of House Targaryen, a devastating war of succession known as the "Dance of the Dragons". According to The Hollywood Reporter, Milly Alcock has landed a recurring role on the series, playing a young version of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, the king's first-born child. She is described as being "of pure Valyrian blood" and "a dragonrider," as is typical for the people native to the Valyrian Peninsula. Her character bio suggests that "many would say that Rhaenyra was born with everything… but she was not born a man."

He also appeared in comedy TV shows including Michaela Coel's series Chewing Gum and the British series Back. Following the time jump, Laenor is still married to Rhaenyra and stays by her side as they welcome their third child (though he's probably not the father to any of their children). Like Rhaenyra, he has had his own affairs during the marriage, while still being a supportive husband and father.
